The Federal University Gashua (FUGA) has recorded a significant breakthrough in its agricultural development efforts, as the Department of Animal Science, under the Faculty of Agriculture, successfully commissioned a state-of-the-art incubator.
This was continued in a press statement signed by the Head, Information and Protocol Federal University Gashua, Mallam Asamu Saleh. Saleh said the modern equipment marks a new chapter for the department, significantly enhancing its capacity for hands-on training, cutting-edge research, and agricultural productivity.
According to the statement, the incubator is already yielding tangible results, with dedicated staff working tirelessly to hatch chicks.
He said this development underscores the university’s unwavering commitment to advancing agricultural science, equipping students with practical knowledge, and contributing meaningfully to national food security.
He noted that this landmark achievement is a testament to the visionary leadership of the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Maimuna Waziri, whose strategic direction continues to position FUGA as a centre of academic excellence and innovation in agriculture.
In his response, Dr. Lawan Adamu, Head of the Department of Animal Science, said the incubator was initially procured during the tenure of the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrew Haruna, as part of the equipment required for the department’s accreditation.
However, it remained unused until Professor Waziri assumed office and prioritised its deployment, driven by her vision to ensure students gain practical experience, especially at a time when job opportunities for graduates are increasingly scarce.
