FULL LIST: Google Top Searches In Nigeria For 2023

Google has released the results of its ‘2023 Year In Search’, revealing the most searched people, deaths, actors, musicians, lyrics, topics, questions and more that captured the interest of Nigerians the most throughout this year.

Google’s ‘Year in Search’ is an annual analysis that reveals the top trending lists and also spotlights what the world searches to see, learn and do.

In Nigeria, the result for this years’ Year in Search shows a heightened interest entertainment as Mohbad and Hilda Baci were among the top three most searched Nigerian news.

Nigerian singer, Asake topped the category top trending musicians searched by Nigerians this year. 19-year-old singer, Khalid, came up in second place in the top trending musicians list.

Nigerian actress, Moyo Lawal was the most searched person of the year, followed by Peter Obi and Oladips.

Questions like, ‘What is fuel subsidy?’, ‘What is autopsy?’ ‘What is the meaning of body count?’, ‘What is the cause of Mohbad’s death?’, ‘What is the meaning of IDAN?’, topped the searches this year.

Relating to high profile deaths, the death of Mohbad was the most searched loss, followed by Murphy Alabi, Saint Obi, Christian Atsu and South African rapper, AKA whose murder was captured by CCTV footage.

Other top searched questions like, ‘Who is the winner of 2023 presidential election?, ‘Who is Mohbad’s wife?’ and ‘Who is Hakimi?’ showed how Nigerians made use of Search to find out more about their interests in 2023.
