Tyson Fury has claimed his proposed blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua is off and immediately turned his attention to a potential trilogy clash with Oleksandr Usyk.
The former heavyweight champion made the declaration on social media on Sunday, amid continued uncertainty over the venue for his proposed showdown with Joshua.
Fury and Joshua are both contracted to fight later this year, but negotiations have reportedly stalled over where the long-awaited British heavyweight clash should take place.
Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, have maintained that the bout must be staged in the United Kingdom, while the event’s promoter and financier, Sela, and broadcaster Netflix are pushing for the United States.
Madison Square Garden in New York had been discussed as a possible venue for 20 November, with organisers reportedly keen to stage the fight at a time that would maximise its American television audience.
However, Hearn said on Friday that discussions had resumed over the possibility of holding the contest at Wembley Stadium after London Mayor Sadiq Khan publicly urged the promoters to bring the event to the capital.
“We want to host it in London. Talk to us, we’re really keen to have it,” Khan told BBC Sport.
Fury, though, has now suggested he is no longer interested in waiting for the Joshua negotiations to conclude, instead challenging Usyk to a third meeting.
The Briton lost both previous encounters with the Ukrainian on points in 2024, with Usyk becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion after their first meeting before retaining his status in the rematch.
“This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk,” Fury said.
“Good luck to you, let us do it again. Let us run it back in November. The ball is now in your court. Do you want to fight me this year, 2026, or are you calling it quits? Let me know because I am now looking for a new opponent.”
Usyk relinquished his three heavyweight belts in June and is reportedly close to finalising a bout with fellow former world champion Deontay Wilder.
Despite Fury’s declaration, there has been no official confirmation from either camp that the Joshua fight has been cancelled, leaving open the possibility that negotiations over the proposed November bout could resume.
