Gambari To Get Doctorate Degree At Nasarawa Varsity Convocation

Chief of staff to President Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari will be conferred with doctorate degree (Honoris causa) by the management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi during its 7th combined convocation ceremony slated for Saturday.

The vice chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, disclosed this during a pre-convocation press conference in Keffi yesterday.

Also, to be honoured by the institution with honorary doctorate degree is Professor Holyst Brunon, a professor of criminology, victimology and criminalistics psychology at the Management Academic of Applied Science in Warsaw, Poland.

NSUK vice chancellor Profesor Suleiman Bala Mohammed said the institution is honouring the two distinguished personalities because of their immense contribution to human endeavours.

He said Gambari is being particularly recognised for his tremendous role in Nigeria’s foreign policy as one of the country’s longest serving Ambassadors to the United Nations.

He said Prof. Brunon on the other hand, was being recognised for his contributions to the academic community especially in the field of criminology and criminalistics psychology.

 

Speaking of the graduating students, Professor Mohammed said 33 students would be awarded with First Class and 1,598 with Second Class Upper division during the ceremony.

 

According to him, a total of 6,661 graduands would be presented with various certificates during the ceremony, noting that out of the figure, 5,984 are for degrees, while 1,677 undergo various post graduate programmes.

 

Mohammed said 134 of the students are PhD holders, 633 academic masters, 357 professional masters, while 553 are for postgraduate diplomas.
