This state-of-the-art facility was established through a high-profile collaboration between the French Embassy and UNILAG’s Innovation and Technology Management Office (ITMO), and it has now successfully integrated its first massive cohort of 5,000 participants into a rigorous professional pipeline. The initiative is a direct response to the global gaming industry’s rapid expansion, ensuring that Nigerian youth are equipped with world-class technical skills to compete in an international market projected to surpass 186 million African gamers by the end of this year.

What sets Gamr Lab apart from typical gaming centers is its identity as a professional “spec” hub, meticulously focused on the high-demand fields of 3D environment creation, advanced game mechanics using the Unreal Engine, and professional esports broadcasting. By strategically bridging the gap between engineering, the social sciences, and the humanities, the Lab is actively transforming young Nigerians from passive consumers of foreign media into the architects of “Afro-centric” digital worlds.
