The board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr Umar Ganduje, has given a two-week ultimatum to the contractor handling the domestic terminal project at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.
Speaking during an extensive inspection tour of the airport, the former Governor of Kano State directed the contractor to complete all outstanding works, including the VIP Lounge, without further delay.
Dr Ganduje reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to ensuring that all airports under FAAN’s management adhere to the Authority’s renewed culture of excellence, accountability, and efficiency.
LEADERSHIP reports that the inspection covered the airside, terminal, and landside areas of the airport.
The visit, which was also a homecoming for Dr Ganduje, was marked by optimism and a collective resolve among Board members and management to reposition the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport as a symbol of pride and progress for northern Nigeria.
While commending FAAN’s management for maintaining operational standards, the Chairman emphasised the need for speedy completion of all ongoing projects and resolution of infrastructural challenges to improve service delivery at the airport.
The high-powered delegation included the FAAN Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku; Board Secretary and Director of Legal Services, Bridget Gold; and Engr. Nasiru Muazu and Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Suleiman.
