Chief of staff to the president, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has donated a conference centre to the main campus of Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo, Lagos.
The unveiling of the “Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre” yesterday was done by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
While expressing her gratitude for the philanthropic gesture, the vice chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, said the facility would contribute to meeting the critical infrastructural needs of the campus.
She said the facility would also provide conducive spaces for administrative and social engagements, address the increasing needs of the growing staff and student population.
The vice chancellor expressed her delight in receiving the edifice, claiming it to be the best New Year gift that the university could ask for.
Olatunji-Bello said Gbajabiamila’s donation was an investment not only in the future of LASU students but also in that of the state.
“It is a historic day for LASU as the university takes ownership of the beautiful edifice generously donated by Gbajabiamila. I want to commend the philanthropic spirit, Gbajabiamila’s name will forever be inscribed in the history of the university as a result of this significant contribution,” she stated.
In addition to the conference centre, Gbajabiamila had previously supported LASU through the donation of a wifi facility and also provided equipment for the digitalisation of university records.
The VC also appreciated the state government for its investments in infrastructure and facilities throughout the university and its other campuses.
