Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied receipt of any communication from the national secretariat lifting the suspension on the two former governorship aspirants of the party alongside wards executives, explaining that the decision was taken by the congress not the State Working Committee (SEC).

The state chairman of the party, Comrade Austin Agada, who disclosed this in Makurdi during the inauguration of the facts-finding and disciplinary committee to investigate the alleged anti-party activities, insisted that the suspension of Barnabas  Gemade, Prof. Terhemba Shija and three wards executives still stand as the party awaits the outcome from the committee.

However, the National Working Committee (NWC), of the party in a media statement issued on Thursday by its publicity secretary, Felix Morka, said Gemade, Shija, and the three other Ward executives affected by the suspension remained bonafide members of the APC Benue State chapter.

But in a swift reaction, Comrade Agada asked the general public to disregard any rumour or statement on the social media that the national working committee of the party has set aside the suspension meted on some of their members for anti-party activities.

According to him, “the party has its ways of reaching out to its state executives not through the social media, therefore any I am urging you to disregard any message on the social media, it is not genuine.

“I want to also let you know that we have not done anything outside the constitution. I have not seen or received any letter from the national secretariat lifting the suspension of anyone and we are officially going to communicate the decision of the congress to the national secretariat tomorrow”

He said the decision to suspend some members is not aimed at  witch-hunting anyone but to strengthened the party and the suspension was the decision of the congress comprising 278 ward chairmen, local government exco, members of our great party across the 23 local government areas of the state and the state executive committee made up of working and non-working committees”

Agada emphasized that Benue APC will not in any way condoned anti-party activities by its members which had robbed the Party’s victory during 2015 and 2019 elections.
