The GENDA Empowerment Foundation has announced a major restructuring of its Board of Trustees in compliance with the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and its own constitution.

The shake-up follows the resignation of Ms. Genevieve Opara in April 2025 and the cessation of Nigerian residency by Ms. Thelma Opara. Both individuals have now been formally removed from the Foundation’s board.

In their place, the organisation has appointed Mr. Ifeanyi Justus and Ms. Ngozi Ibe as new trustees. Their appointments have been ratified by resolution and officially filed with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

In a statement signed by its Head of Strategic Communications, Kumashe Yakuugh, the Foundation cautioned the public, donor agencies, diplomatic institutions, and development partners against transacting with any individual falsely representing the Foundation in an executive capacity even as it warned impostors to steer clear.

Founded with a focus on inclusive development and transformational youth leadership, GENDA has, in recent years, positioned itself as one of Africa’s most innovative non-profits. Under the leadership of its President and Executive Director, Mr. David Nwokorie, the Foundation has expanded its programmes across Nigeria and other parts of the continent.

The restructuring comes at a time when GENDA is preparing to roll out a series of high-profile initiatives. Beyond events, the Foundation is also set to launch its continental Policy Document on Youth Development, a policy blueprint expected to shape conversations on youth empowerment across Africa. Plans are equally underway to begin the groundbreaking of the Africa Youth Leadership Centre, envisioned as a continental hub for youth innovation and capacity building.

Mr. Nwokorie stressed that the Foundation remains committed to institutional excellence, transparency, and collaboration in driving its mission of empowering young Africans.

With its board restructured, GENDA said it was confident of strengthening its governance framework while expanding programmes that prepare the continent’s youth to take on leadership roles in democracy, innovation, and sustainable development.
