Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has strongly advised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to ensure both Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka start in the upcoming second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid. Gerrard’s comments come after Arteta opted not to start either player in the first leg, which concluded in a 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano Stadium earlier this week.

In that initial encounter, goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Julian Alvarez ultimately decided the tie, with Eze and Saka only being introduced in the second half. Gerrard, speaking on TNT Sports, was unequivocal in his recommendation for the crucial return fixture at the Emirates.

“In the second leg, you’ve got to get Eze on the pitch,” Gerrard stated emphatically. “I think he gives Arsenal just that little bit more spark, and he just looks that little bit more dangerous for me.”
