Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus could require surgery after suffering a setback in his recovery from a quad injury.
The Ghana international has been sidelined since January and had been nearing a return to training, but the club confirmed he will now undergo further specialist assessment.
New head coach Roberto De Zerbi has been dealt an early blow, with Kudus now a doubt for the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old, who joined Spurs from West Ham United in a £55 million move, had been in fine form prior to his injury, starting nine consecutive matches.
With Ghana national football team set to feature at the World Cup, Kudus also faces a race against time to be fit for the tournament.
