The British Council Digital Library has opened calls for short video submissions for its global digital food competition titled ‘Global Bites: A Culinary Journey’.

The competition, which celebrates culture through food storytelling, is aimed at commemorating World Food Day, which is marked annually on October 16.

Food lovers, cooking enthusiasts aged 18 years and above, are urged to submit a two-minute video featuring their favourite dish with a personal story about it, its flavour and the culture surrounding it.

“Food is more than flavour – it’s memory, culture and connection. This World Food Day, the British Council Libraries invites you to take part in ‘Global Bites: A Culinary Journey’, a digital video challenge that celebrates the diversity of cuisines and the rich stories behind them.

“Whether it’s a family recipe passed down through generations, a street food delicacy from your hometown or a personal comfort food. Bring your dish alive by sharing, its story and cultural significance, any interesting history behind it, and why it’s meaningful to you. The more visually creative and engaging your storytelling, the better.”
