A non- interest group, Global Women Network Foundation, also called the “Give Back Network has presented certificates to its mentees who have successfully completed their training programme in digital skills, real estate and social media marketing in Nigeria.
The chief executive officer of the Neetwork, Ronix Akins, who congratulated the mentees said GWNF was formed by business and professional women from all works of life with the single aim of giving back to their communities. She further explained that membership is by referral or invitation.
She explained that the beneficiaries will automatically join their real estate company for internship for a year and stand to get them basic/ transport money N15,000 as well as get commission for any sales made. ‘Once they finish, we will help them set up to get self-employed in real estate’s / online marketing etc.
The foundation, a United Kingdom –based Non- governmental Organisation with roots in Nigeria, trains and mentor young women to gain the skills required to excel in life, and to create opportunities for African Women to enable them realise their full potential as well as becoming financially independent.
The mentees were issued certificates of completion which further qualifies them for the next phase of consideration after an intensive two-month training in Abuja. Among the Nigerian beneficiaries are Juliet Nnena Ozuligbo, Ijoyah Theresa Shimite and Ibe Kalu Jessica.
Speaking during the certificate presentation, the administrative manager of the NGO, Collins Andrew said the initiative is geared towards supporting young women in the society.
He said the intention is to equip them with basic skills in technology, real estate, and social media. “Basic things they can use to help themselves pending when things can come up for them. It’s a program that starts with training, followed by internship and mentorship, after which they can proceed to go start helping themselves with what they’ve been equipped with.
“Our first batch were empowered in May, during the official launch of our Information related courses for the benefit of some selected participants. In September, we had the second batch who were trained in real estate and social media marketing and real estate.
Andrew said the foundation was launched in 2017, but the commencement of the courses was officially launched in May 2022.
About the selection process, he said; “We select them without trying to know anyone of them. What we do is send out information via Facebook ads to target young girls who are graduates and out of work who are interested. The first time we got about 50 applicants, and we slated them for interviews and only about four or five turned out.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Juliet Ozuligbo thanked the foundation for the initiative as well as the platform provided to boost the financial independence of women. She said, “So far, we have been well equipped, and growth will in turn, impact upon the nation’s growth and development
Juliet encouraged young people to focus on their goals. She said if they have the opportunity or platform to learn, they should be committed to learning what will better their future.
