General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 “Operation Hadin Kai”, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has advised school pupils to embrace the virtues and values of discipline, courage and honour as foundations for a successful life.
He gave the charge yesterday when pupils of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, (NAOWA) Model Nursery and Primary School Maimalari Military Cantonment Maiduguri paid him a courtesy visit in his office as part of activities organised to mark the 2023 Children’s Day Celebrations.
Abubakar who described Children’s Day as a special day set aside to celebrate the incredible and mind-blowing potentials that reside within children, affirmed that he had witnessed firsthand, the strength, resilience and determination that the children possess.
He said the day was not only a day of celebration but also a reminder of the responsibilities parents have towards the younger generation, hence it was duty bound on adults and mentors to give them necessary guidance, support and opportunities to nurture their talents in order to achieve their dreams.
The GOC urged the children to make a difference in the world and not to underestimate their abilities or the impact they could make stressing that the path to success may not always be easy but they should keep pushing forward and believe in their abilities to overcome any obstacle.
The GOC commended the teachers and parents for their dedication, energy and love towards nurturing and educating the children.
A pupil by name Hassina Lawan who spoke on behalf of the pupils, appreciated the GOC for his support, fatherly love and care for the school children. She promised that the children will continue to be focused on their studies as future leaders.
