The General Officer Commanding, (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah has called on troops to treat regimentation at parade grounds with seriousness to improve their skills and professional abilities.
Emekah, who is also the Land Component Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, made the call yesterday while declaring open a four-day competition for warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers at the Elele Barracks in Rivers State.
He described warrant and senior non-commissioned officers as vital participants in the Nigerian Army, intermediaries between senior officers and lower ranks.
The GOC was represented by Commander of the 16 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Oluremi Obolo, who is also the chief host of the event.
He stated that they exemplify genuine leadership in the field, the bush, and in all operational theaters, uphold discipline, train personnel, and honourably preserve the Nigerian Army’s tradition and pride.
The Army Chief encouraged them to leverage the inter brigade contest to forge lasting friendships, emphasizing that the four-day event allowed them to stay updated on the fundamentals of military practices that shape and develop every soldier.
The GOC encouraged the participants to perform their best and compete honestly, applauding the organising committee for executing a successful event.
The Nigerian Army’s inter-brigade competition for warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers includes drills, parade, weapon exercises, map reading, swimming, and more.
