The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has stated that Nigeria was created by God as a legacy for His people across generations, in various times and seasons. Senator Oluremi made this declaration at the carol of nine lessons organised by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and Voice of Nigeria (VON) at the National Ecumenical Centre in the Central Business District, Abuja.
The First Lady, who was a special guest at the carol and represented by the Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mrs Adedayo Benjamin, said, “Nigeria was created by God, and Nigerians are here for the legacy of His people through generations, in different times and seasons. We are gathered this Christmas season once again to declare hope, renewed hope, true hope.
“Indeed, Nigerians, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, for the power of our faith is the power of glory that, when we encounter the Red Sea, we must lift our eyes and recognise the power of Jesus, who walked on water to guide us through.
“May this Christmas season of 2025, as we transition into the remarkable year of new strength in 2026, revive our confidence in God’s plan for Nigeria, for God is with us in the storm. He has granted us the power of Christ to navigate whatever individual or collective crises and challenges we face. The victory of our faith is the victory of our nation.
“Therefore, let us not enter the coming year in fear but in faith, not with anxiety but with the blessed assurance that God, who crowns the year with goodness, will also lead us into glory. Nigeria, as a nation, will be sustained.”
Meanwhile, the General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM), Reverend (Dr) William Okoye, in his sermon entitled “Jesus Our Strength,” affirmed that Nigeria is a wonderful nation, richly endowed by God from every angle. However, he stressed that it is essential for our leaders to embrace the fear of God, turn away from their wickedness, please God, and serve the people earnestly, as it is then that Nigeria will receive help from God.
The message included: “Nigeria is a wonderful nation, well endowed by God from every aspect. We are known as one, if not the most religious nations in the world, yet we are very ungodly. We cannot expect the strength of God to assist us as a nation when we are living ungodly lives, committing all manner of atrocities and breaking God’s heart.
“But when, as individuals, our leaders embrace the fear of God, turn away from their wickedness, please God, and serve the people earnestly, that is when we will obtain help from God as a nation.
“The Bible states it is not God’s will for people to perish but for all to come to repentance. That is why He sent Jesus to save us from our sins. And Jesus cannot save us from our sins as a nation or as a group of people; He deals with us as individuals.
“So, if we truly desire the strength of God to conquer the present situation we find ourselves in, we must first and foremost repent of our sins and invite Jesus into our hearts. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we should ask Him to forgive our sins, wash us clean with the blood of Jesus, and grant us the strength to love and serve God for the rest of our lives.
“To sustain that strength of God in our lives, we must read, study, and meditate on God’s word daily and pray.
The clergyman added that when we make God our refuge and strength, we have nothing to worry about.
The carol featured performances from various musical groups, including a particularly melodious rendition by a group of children from The Eagles Music Academy, comprising young orchestral musicians and singers. Their electrifying performance showcased their musical skills, hard work, tenacity, and commitment, adding to the event’s vibrance.
