Senator Muhammadu Danjuma Goje has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Gombe Central, describing the results being circulated as fake and unofficial.
The senator, who currently represents Gombe Central in the Senate, made his position known through a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere.
The reaction came hours after reports emerged that retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmadu, defeated Goje in the APC primary election held on Monday in Gombe State.
According to results reportedly announced by the Returning Officer, Dr. Habu Dahiru, Ahmadu polled 42,785 votes, while Goje secured 10,425 votes.
The outcome was widely seen by political observers as a major boost for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya amid growing power struggles within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, Goje insisted that the primary election had not been officially concluded or declared by the party’s national leadership.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, I wish to advise the good people of Gombe Central Senatorial District to disregard the fake results being circulated as the outcome of the APC primary election,” the statement said.
Kashere alleged that enemies of the party were responsible for spreading the results and maintained that authentic results would only be released officially in Abuja by the APC national leadership.
While party stakeholders aligned with Governor Yahaya reportedly participated in the exercise, Senator Goje was absent during the primary election in the state.
Earlier, the APC had adopted Mohammed Ahmadu as consensus candidate for Gombe Central, a move many political analysts viewed as a direct challenge to Goje’s bid to return to the Senate in 2027.
Speaking after voting at his Jekadafari Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, Governor Yahaya described the exercise as peaceful and commended party members for their orderly conduct and turnout.
