Evelyn Oyome of Ikoyi Club 1938 has been crowned champion of the 25th IBB Ladies Golf Open Championship in Abuja.
Oyome scored a total gross of 242 over the course of the three-day tournament to claim the championship crown for the second consecutive year, showcasing exceptional skill as the top ranked amateur female golfer in Nigeria with a single digit handicap.

Oyome, a seasoned amateur golfer, took the lead after day two and maintained her pole position with a four-shot advantage, beating off intense pressure from the Ugandan lady Kabasweka Peace on the final day to retain the IBB Ladies Open crown.
Kabasweka Peace finished as runners-up with a gross score of 249, while Grace Agbo of IBB International Golf and Country Club finished 1st runners-up with a cumulative gross score of 252.
Oyome, who was full of delight for defending the title, attributed her success to dedication and consistent practice. “I am filled with joy for winning this tournament for the second time. Oyome said.
“Though, it is my fourth time winning golf titles, defending the championship and winning it back to back is a great joy for me and I am happy I did it.

“The secret is that I have been playing golf handicap that I should play as a single digit repeatedly. So, it’s hard work that I have been doing for a long time that is paying off. Continued playing of golf every time led to this success. Once there is a good golf course where I can be able to exercise and play my game, I am good to go in any tournament in my category.” Oyome said.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lady Captain Folashade Olateju, expressed joy for the smooth running of the competition and thanked the participants for their dedication. “The championship has been a huge success, thank God for making it a big success,” Olateju said.
