Gombe 2023: I’m Not Scared Of Incumbency Power – Mailantarki

A governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State for the 2023 election, Khamisu Mailantarki, has said he is not bothered by the incumbency power of Governor Inuwa Yahaya saying he is capable of unseating him.

Mailantarki made the assertion yesterday in an exclusive chat with our correspondent where he revealed that he was used to defeating sitting leaders in the past elections under unpopular political parties.

Buttressing his point, the governorship candidate said he became a member of the House of Representatives representing Gombe/Kwami and Funakaye federal constituency in 2011 under the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) after beating the then incumbent representative.

“This is a very good reminder for even the people of Gombe. In 2011 when I contested, that was the beginning of my political career. I looked at the state, I looked at what was happening then and I saw a window that the people of Gombe are well educated in terms of elections and what have you.

“So, the issue of incumbency, godfatherism does not work in Gombe. It is a mere saying and imagination. I proved that in 2011, when we saw the window, when we believed that we could do better than what was on the ground then.
