Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, has said his camp will soon reveal details of alleged conspiracies against his political ambition.
Pantami, while commending supporters for remaining steadfast amid the controversy over his omission from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list, thanked them for their prayers, solidarity, and commitment, saying their unwavering support strengthened his resolve amid the challenges confronting his political journey.
In a Hausa video he shared online, Professor Pantami said supporters had continued to pray for him in mosques and churches, recite the Qur’an and offer voluntary prayers, describing their actions as a source of encouragement and joy.
“I want to begin by expressing my gratitude to my supporters for the way you have continued to offer prayers for my well-being. You have been praying in mosques and churches, day and night, without ceasing,” he said.
According to him, his followers have continued to mobilise, raise awareness and demonstrate commitment without retreating.
Pantami urged them not to be discouraged by criticism and mockery over their decision to seek divine intervention through prayers.
He argued that even prophets faced ridicule during their lifetimes, urging his supporters to remain patient and steadfast.
Addressing allegations of a plot against his political movement, Pantami said investigations by his camp confirmed suspicions that some individuals were working to frustrate their efforts.
He alleged that substantial resources and time had been deployed to undermine the movement but expressed confidence that no human effort could overturn what God had destined.
Pantami, however, did not identify the individuals allegedly involved in the plot in the portions of the video. He said his camp would soon provide further details about the alleged conspiracies and those responsible.
“Very soon, we will expose and provide sufficient details about all the acts of hypocrisy and the conspiracies that have been plotted, including those responsible for them,” he said in Hausa.
LEADERSHIP learned that the controversy over Pantami’s political future intensified following his omission, alongside the PDP, from INEC’s final list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election.
Meanwhile, in an article by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the spokesperson for APC governorship candidate DR Jamilu Isiaku Gwamna, on Sunday, he argued that the controversy could hinge on whether Pantami’s name appeared in the PDP membership register submitted to INEC within the legally prescribed timeframe.
Shawai, in the article titled “Farewell, Professor Isa Ali Pantami,” noted that although Pantami reportedly won the September 29 rerun primary, his challengers contend that the exercise could not cure an alleged defect relating to the membership register.
“The same electoral legislation Pantami invoked when he believed the APC nomination process was working against him is now at the centre of the legal challenge to his PDP candidacy,” he added.
