The Gombe State Government has approved the allocation of alternative plots of land to verified landowners affected by ongoing reforms within the Gombe Capital Special Development Zone (GCSDZ).

Kabiru Usman Hassan, the Director-General of the Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS), announced the approval in Gombe.

Hassan said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya approved the allocation of replacement plots at Shongo Gardens Layout as part of efforts to provide a fair and humane resolution for titleholders impacted by the restoration of access roads, enforcement of development control measures and other urban renewal initiatives.

According to him, the decision followed a comprehensive verification and audit exercise conducted under Phase I of the GCSDZ project, which covers 525.9 hectares across eight layouts within the Gombe metropolis.

He explained that some titleholders in GDP/16 were affected following the withdrawal of titles to facilitate the establishment of the state’s Medical College and Teaching Hospital, while others in GDP/5 were found to have acquired plots located within high-voltage power line corridors.

Hassan said only individuals who participated in the verification exercises and met the required conditions were considered eligible for the alternative plot allocations.

The GOGIS director added that the government would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure orderly physical development and improved infrastructure delivery across the rapidly expanding capital city.
