A female lawyer, Barrister Martha Daniel, has stated that despite the passage of the Child Protection Law in 2022 in Gombe State, the law has yet to be gazetted.
Our correspondent reports that this law aims to promote and protect the rights of vulnerable children in the state against all forms of violence.
The lawyer who is the director of legal matters of the Association of NGOs in Gombe State made the disclosure in a conversation with LEADERSHIP.
According to her, gazetting a law ensures transparency and public awareness of new laws, fulfilling a crucial requirement for the rule of law.
“It informs the public about legal changes, allowing them to understand their rights and obligations. This transparency prevents ignorance of the law and excuses for non-compliance.
“Laws are made for man and man should be made to know the laws that are in operation within a jurisdiction,” she pointed out.
To this end, Daniel called on relevant authorities to gazette the state’s Child Protection and other laws.
“I am also urging the government of Gombe State to upload this law on the relevant website for global access and build our image in the committee of states”, she stated.
