Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the suspension of the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the state Ministry of Justice, Abubakar Jungudo over alleged misconduct. The governor also constituted an investigative panel to probe allegations.

This is contained in a statement by the Head of Civil Service, Professor Mu’azu Shehu, who said the action followed the governor’s consideration of the nature and gravity of the allegations contained in a formal complaint against the senior law officer.

According to the statement, the suspension is aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent investigation in line with the principles of due process.

Justice Haruna Habila Kereng of the Gombe State High Court will chair the constituted panel.

Other members include a director from the Ministry of Justice, representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Assistant Inspector-General of Police’s Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Gombe, and the Department of State Services (DSS). The Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Service Matters, Office of the Head of Civil Service, will serve as the panel’s secretary.
