Director-general, Press Affairs, in the Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, who stated this in an interview, noted that security agencies were working round the clock, in collaboration with the state government, to address security challenges.

The DG was responding to concerns linking unemployment and drug-related issues to rising crime and criminal activities in Gombe State.

He said, “It’s important to note that Governor Inuwa Yahaya inherited a myriad of challenges, including Kalare activities, which he confronted proactively through the implementation of people-oriented programmes.

“Today, Gombe State is recognised as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria due to the proactive measures taken by the Governor. Security agencies are working in collaboration with the government to address security challenges”.

Misilli noted that while no state is entirely immune to these challenges, government’s proactive approach has proven effective in maintaining peace and security in Gombe State.

According to him, Governor Inuwa Yahaya has been at the forefront, taking comprehensive measures to address these challenges and improve the prospects of the state’s young population.

He stated: “The Governor’s commitment to youth empowerment, economic growth, and public safety has earned the state recognition as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

“One of the key initiatives introduced by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is the Gombe State Environmental, Security, and Traffic Corps (GOSTEC). This programme has successfully engaged hundreds of young individuals in activities related to environmental management, security, and traffic control. By providing these opportunities, the state government is not only addressing unemployment but also enhancing public safety and environmental sustainability.

“The government has also prioritized skill acquisition programmes to equip young people with valuable skills that can lead to self-employment and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the Governor has distributed empowerment items like tricycles (KEKE NAPEP) to empower individuals to generate income and become self-reliant”.

“Recognizing the importance of education and healthcare, the government has taken steps to recruit graduate teachers and healthcare personnel. This not only enhances critical services but also creates job opportunities for educated individuals in the state.

“One of the most ambitious projects in the pipeline is the establishment of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park. This project is expected to generate thousands of job opportunities for the youth and create value chains that will positively impact various communities within the state”.
