Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has appointed 24 senior personnel to oversee the affairs of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and newly-created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.
The appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of 11 local government executive council chairmen.
The Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s approval, said the appointments are aimed at sustaining governance structures and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery at the grassroots level.
He noted that the appointees were drawn from among serving secretaries and credible individuals within their respective LGAs to ensure continuity and administrative efficiency during the transition period.
The appointments cover Akko LGA, where Abdulkadir Abubakar will serve, alongside Lamaran Ahmed for Akko West LCDA and Mohammed Ajiya for Akko North LCDA. In Balanga, Adamu Ado was appointed for the LGA, while Sarah Danjuma will oversee Balanga South LCDA. Augustine Kurugu was named for Billiri LGA, with Gladys Garba assigned to Billiri West LCDA.
Similarly, Adamu Julderu will oversee Dukku LGA, while Ahmed Usman will manage Dukku North LCDA. In Funakaye, Saidu Abubakar was appointed for the LGA and Bappayo Yaya for Funakaye South LCDA. Aliyu Mohammed Dawaki will oversee Gombe LGA, while Aishatu Mohammed Sadiq will manage Gombe South LCDA.
In Kaltungo, Labte Aaron Andrew was appointed for the LGA, while Ibrahim Gambo will oversee Kaltungo East LCDA. Bilkisu Mohammed Magaji will serve in Kwami LGA, with Muhammad Kabir Abdullahi assigned to Kwami West LCDA. Abubakar Yuguda was appointed for Nafada LGA, while Muhammad Kabir will manage Nafada South LCDA.
The list also includes James Emmanuel Dogo for Shongom LGA and Saidu Manzo Filiya for Pero/Chonge LCDA. In Yamaltu/Deba, Ibrahim Aliyu will oversee the LGA, while Haruna Shehu and Dauda Umar were appointed for Yamaltu/Deba East and West LCDAs respectively.
The appointments take effect from April 24, 2026.
In a statement by the governor’s spokesperson Ismaila Uba Misilli, on Thursday, Inuwa Yahaya, charged them to ensure administrative continuity, stability, and effective service delivery.
