The management of Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe (FTH) has banned its employees from participating in cryptocurrency activities or any form of mining during work hours.

The hospital management said that it noticed that the new trend is distracting workers from attending to patients appropriately.

An internal circular by the hospital however stated that staff members have the right to engage in other activities when they are not on duty.

Explaining the reason for the directive, FTH’s Deputy Director of Administration, Adamu Usman Tela confirmed this while speaking on Trust Radio, on Thursday.

“We took this step even before receiving any complaints, because taking care of the public health is the first thing,” Tela said.

The circular added that, “The Management has already deployed SERVICOM, ACTU, and security officers around to monitor and ensure compliance with the directives.”
