Gombe State, on Saturday, conducted another circle of its Local Government Council election across the 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs), and 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The exercise which officials described as generally peaceful, with electoral officials, security personnel and independent observers carrying out their duties.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who cast his vote at Yahaya Umaru Polling Unit 010 in Jekadafari Ward, described the election as free, fair and transparent, expressing satisfaction with the voter turnout and peaceful conduct of the exercise.

“From what we have witnessed so far, the election is free, fair and peaceful, and I believe the outcome will be beneficial to all of us,” the governor said after voting alongside the All Progressive Congress APC’s governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, and other party supporters.

Governor Yahaya said the enthusiasm displayed by voters reflected their confidence in the democratic process and his administration’s leadership, reiterating his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting credible elections and deepening grassroots governance.

“I am delighted by the enthusiasm demonstrated by our people. Their peaceful participation is a clear reflection of their confidence in the democratic process and our leadership,” he said.

The governor noted that Gombe had consistently conducted peaceful local government elections over the years and expressed confidence that the current exercise would further strengthen the state’s democratic credentials.

He added that reports from across the state indicated that voting was progressing smoothly without security breaches or major incidents, urging all contestants to accept the outcome of the election in the interest of peace and democracy.
