A former Gombe State governor and senator representing Gombe North, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has secured clearance to contest for another term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dankwambo emerged among the aspirants screened and cleared by the PDP for the party’s National Assembly primaries, paving the way for his re-election bid.
His clearance was confirmed by the PDP Gombe State Secretariat in an official letter addressed to the party’s national chairman through the national organising secretary.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Inuwa, who is completing his tenure as governor, has clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Gombe North Senate seat.
This could become one of the closely watched political contests ahead of the 2027 elections if the duo eventually emerge as their parties’ flag bearers.
The PDP has also cleared Anthony Siyako Yaro to contest for Gombe South Senatorial District, while Aliyu Hammadu secured clearance for Gombe Central Senatorial District.
For the House of Representatives races, the party cleared Gidado Alhaji Lawanti for Akko Federal Constituency, Mohammed Lamido for Dukku/Nafada, and Dr. Obed Paul Shehu for Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency.
Others cleared include Dr. Nasir Ibrahim for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye, Shu’aibu Umar Galadima for Yamaltu/Deba, and Rambi Ibrahim Ayala for Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency.
