The Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GOHEALTH) is set to enroll local government workers in its health insurance scheme.

Initially, the scheme considered state government workers wherein they are charged a small amount of money from their salaries to enable them access affordable healthcare services at any hospital of their choice.

However, the management of the agency as part of efforts to extend the gesture to more people in the state revealed plans to enroll local government staff too in the programme.

In preparation for the commencement of the scheme at the local governments level, the agency last Friday visited the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development.

The delegation from GOHEALTH was led by Dr Abubakar Musa, the executive secretary of the agency.

During the meeting, Musa highlighted ongoing efforts to bring workers into the scheme and attributed it to the determination and commitment of the Governor Inuwa Yahaya to ensure that citizens have access to quality health services without financial hardship.

Responding, the Commissioner of the Ministry, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammed Waziri, pledged his support to the initiative.

He recognised the importance of the inclusion of local government workers in the scheme and assured of the ministry’s full support.
