Gombe State governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has said his administration is positioning the state as a regional hub for agriculture and livestock development, in line with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope National Development Plan (2026–2030).
The governor stated this on Monday at a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the theme, “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development.”
Yahaya said Gombe’s strategy focuses on agriculture and livestock as key drivers of economic growth, job creation and food security, adding that deliberate reforms, strategic investments and partnerships are already yielding results.
According to him, the state has prioritised investments across agriculture, livestock development, infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital development to support inclusive and sustainable growth.
He noted that Gombe has leveraged its comparative advantages to strengthen food production, create jobs and diversify its economy, stressing that subnational governments play a critical role in translating national development plans into tangible impact at the grassroots.
The governor expressed confidence that sustained collaboration among federal and state governments, development partners and the private sector would accelerate agricultural transformation and deliver lasting economic benefits.
The conference brought together President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, ministers, lawmakers, development partners and private sector leaders to review strategies for inclusive and resilient national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu, in his opening remarks, said ongoing economic reforms, improved revenue flows to subnational governments, infrastructure expansion and targeted social investments remain central to the administration’s development strategy.
