Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to advancing national growth through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Goronyo gave the commendation on Saturday in Sokoto during the unveiling of a book written in his honour, titled: “Military Law in Nigeria: A Guide to Practice and Procedure.”

He said the President’s agenda had continued to prioritise security, promote the rule of law, among other pillars essential for national growth and development.

The book was authoured by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ibrahim Abdullahi, and co-authored by Mrs Rasheedat Muhammad, Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto State chapter.

Speaking at the event, Goronyo described the gesture as humbling and expressed deep appreciation to the authours and organisers.

He said, although the book was dedicated to him, he chose to dedicate it to all Nigerians serving the country diligently, both in uniform and in civil capacities.

“I dedicate this honour to all those who serve our nation tirelessly to uphold justice, peace, and national unity,” he said.

He stated that the publication was a timely and significant contribution to legal scholarship and military professionalism, adding that its practical approach makes it valuable to military legal practitioners, officers, scholars, and students.

Goronyo further said that the book comes at a critical time in Nigeria’s history, as the armed forces continue to play a vital role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and addressing security challenges.

He also called for increased investment in knowledge, research, and institutional development, stressing that strong institutions were built on discipline, knowledge, and respect for the rule of law.

The minister appreciated dignitaries at the event, including Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC – Sokoto North), Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, the authours, and the book reviewer, Prof. Ahmad Okene.

In his remarks, Gov. Aliyu, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idris Gobir, said the event was organised to celebrate excellence and recognise Goronyo’s contributions to the development of Sokoto State.

He described the book as timely and significant, noting that the military remains central to national security.

“This book is a vital resource that will deepen knowledge in specialised fields and contribute to scholarship in Nigeria,” he said.

Also speaking, Sen. Wamakko described the book as an important addition to legal practice in Nigeria, while expressing appreciation to the authours and organisers for a successful event. (NAN)
