Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia

Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the construction of the Ugobia–Ugbo-Oju–Onyagede–Ankpa boundary road and the establishment of a garri processing factory in Onyagede, Ohimini local government area.

The governor made the announcement on Sunday at a thanksgiving mass organised by the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State, Benjamin Omale at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Onyagede, Ehaje,.

Represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, Governor Alia said the projects were part of the efforts by his administration to open up rural communities, strengthen agricultural value chains and improve livelihoods.

He noted that the road project would enhance connectivity across the benefiting communities, ease transportation and support commerce, while the garri processing facility would create jobs and add value to local agricultural produce.

The statement issued by All Progressives Congress (APC) state publicity secretary, Benedict Yawe, said governor Alia urged people of Ohimini to sustain their support for his administration, stressing that continued collaboration would accelerate development and ensure more dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

The governor commended Omale for his leadership of the ruling party in the state, describing him as committed, hardworking and philanthropic, adding that the APC recorded remarkable progress under his watch.

In his remarks, Benjamin Omale said the thanksgiving was to express gratitude to God for His blessings upon him and his family, as well as to mobilise resources for the development of the church.

Omale, donated an electric transformer, building materials worth millions of naira, along with a cash contribution towards the church project.

“Governor Alia and several other dignitaries also made donations in support of the church building project.

“Dr. Omale also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alia for their support to the party, assuring that the APC in the state would remain united and work assiduously for victory in the 2027 elections”

Also speaking, the Och’Idoma and chairman of the Idoma Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Elaigwu Odogbo Abagaji John, lauded Omale’s contributions to the Idoma nation and commended Governor Alia for his development strides, urging continued support of Idoma people for the administration.

In a homily, Rev. Fr. Marcus Chukwu charged leaders in the state to combine faith with governance by upholding truth, integrity and selfless service, stressing that leadership must positively impact the people and promote unity.
