Benue State Governor, Rev’d. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has directed security agencies in the state to ensure that criminal elements disrupting the peace of the state are fished out and brought to justice.
Governor Alia further expressed his willingness and readiness to continue providing the necessary support needed by the security agencies to ensure the state is cleaned from nefarious activities.
The Governor gave the directive when he received a briefing on the attack on Terwase Orbunde, Chief of Staff to former Governor Samuel Ortom, and the abduction of his wife and housemaid by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
Alia, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula condemned the unfortunate incident, saying, “I am shocked and dismayed by this barbaric act.”
He said further, “I have said this, and I must keep saying it. Security should, and must be everyone’s concern. The law enforcement agencies and the government need information. Make it a culture that anytime you see something, you say something. “
He emphasised that while insecurity has become a global issue and not peculiar to Benue State alone, he will continue to work round the clock towards securing every life and property in the state.
He assured all Benue residents that security is top on the priority of his administration, and that matters of insecurity will soon be a thing of the past.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the gunmen had on Saturday reached out to the family, making a demand of N100 million as a condition to free the kidnapped persons, or risk being killed.
