Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has reaffirmed commitment to national security and community development.
Alia spoke when he welcomed a delegation of staff, students, and guests from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, as part of the institution’s 2026 Nigeria study tour of Benue State.
A statement issued by the governor’s technical adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, explained that the delegation led by the chief coordinator, Navy Captain A. Usman, visited the state under the theme: “Promoting Community Engagement for Enhanced National Security and Prosperity.”
Iorpev said the visit was to conduct an assessment tour and expose the participants to the realities on ground regarding practices, training, and engagements related to national security and prosperity.
He said the delegation was expected to interact with communities, security agencies, and relevant sectors to assess prevailing challenges, needs, and opportunities within the state.
Governor Alia, represented by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, expressed appreciation to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College for selecting Benue State for the national exercise.
The Governor described the theme of the study tour as timely, relevant, and critical to addressing the security challenges confronting the nation.
He noted that his administration strongly believes that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through inclusive governance, active youth engagement, and strong collaboration with security institutions.
Governor Alia commended the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the nation’s military personnel, stating that their dedication continues to inspire hope for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
He emphasised that the bravery displayed by members of the Armed Forces deserves the support and cooperation of every Nigerian citizen.
The Governor further assured the delegation that Benue State remains resolute and optimistic in its partnership with security agencies and institutions.
He added that the outcome of the study tour would contribute meaningfully to national discourse, policy formulation, and strategic security engagements.
Alia reaffirmed that Benue State was blessed with hardworking and resilient citizens and pledged the continued collaboration of the state government with institutions such as the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in achieving a safer, more secure, and prosperous Benue State and Nigeria at large.
