Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has presented new cars to the 20 local government caretaker committee chairmen of the state.
At the event yesterday, the governor said the official vehicles would make it easier for them to reach out to communities in their areas and impact positively on the wellbeing of the people.
Mohammed said his administration always recognises the hard work of council chairmen hence the need to help them discharge their responsibilities.
The governor who was represented by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, urged them to bring development and identify with them at all times.
Earlier, the state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki, said the vehicles were acquired to help the chairmen to effectively discharge their duties.
Zaki called on them to remain focused and work with relevant stakeholders for the success of the present administration at the grassroots.
In a vote of thanks, the chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Umar Hassan, appreciated the gesture and promised to consolidate and complement the governor’s giant strides.
