Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni has applauded the United Nations World Food programme (WFP) for providing food for several households in the state.

The governor spoke when he received the WFP country director, Mr David Stevenson, during a courtesy call at the Government House, Damaturu.

Buni, who was represented by the deputy governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, said the state government cherished the contributions of WFP through the distribution of food to 320,365 beneficiaries in Gujba, Gulani and Nangere local government areas.

He said WFP also supported 398,222 beneficiaries through e-voucher modalities across Yusufari, Gujba, Gulani Gaidam, Yunusari and Jakusko local government areas respectively.

Buni appealed to the country director to extend the present tempo of their activities to December, 2024 as against October 2023 to further collaborate with them on all facets of development to make the wellbeing of the people of the state better.
