Yobe State Governor Mai Mala  Buni has approved the distribution of 1,500 bags of rice and other food items to 47 youth and women groups, and other vulnerable groups in the state.

Governor Buni said the programme targeted 1,000 households as provided by the groups across the state.

According to the governor, the aim of the initiative is to boost resilience in peace-building and alleviate suffering within the vulnerable communities especially the youths, women, elderly persons and people living with disabilities in the state.

Also, the focal person of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Yobe State, Hon Nuhu Baba Hassan, disclosed that they received the items on April 24, assuring that the foodstuff would get to the targeted beneficiaries.

He commended the efforts of Governor Buni for bringing solace to the people of the state at the right time.

He also urged people of the state to continue giving him the necessary cooperation and maximum support for the interest of the state.

Hon Nuhu described the initiative as part of the governor’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of his people, particularly the less privileged and the physically challenged.

Those who spoke with LEADERSHIP Weekend shortly after the flag-off, commended the focal person, Baba Hassan for prioritising transparency, adding that he has been entrusted with ensuring fairness in the distribution process.
