The Commissioner, Yobe State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Muhammad Bello Kawuwa said the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni is set to execute mega and legacy projects through the construction of storey building hostels, road networks and solar street lights in the Yobe State University, Damaturu.
Prof. Kawuwa made this known shortly after opening a tender bids for the execution of the projects in Damaturu last week.
The commissioner said the project which included the construction and furnishing of three blocks of two storey students hostel with 60 rooms among others was meant to provide the necessary infrastructure needed in the university for academic excellence.
He further said the project will include the installation of solar street lights within the University hence the opening of the tender to facilitate commencement.
“Proposed construction and furnishing of one storey block of 16 modern classrooms, Proposed construction and furnishing of 1000 seater twin lecture theater.
“Proposed construction and Furnishing of one (1) faculty Deanery and two hundred and twenty (220) seater capacity lecture theatre.
“Proposed supply and installation of four hundred (400) units of all-in-one solar street lights. Proposed construction of four (4) kilometer roads and drainages.”
The Commissioner commended the contractors for showing interest in the execution of the Proposed Legacy Projects, assuring that proper selection would be done with a view to identify qualified firms that will execute the project.
Earlier in their separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Muhammad Inuwa Gulani and the Director Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry Hajiya Zainab Muhammad Atiyaye thanked the bidders for applying assuring that government will do justice in the selection of companies for the projects.
“We would like to assure that the government will not compromise in the selection of competent companies for the award and execution of the listed projects,” they stated.
The directors of the ministry, representatives of BPP, ministry of Housing and that of Works attended the ceremony.
