Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has urged the first batch of intending pilgrims from the state for the 2026 hajj to pray in the holy land for the stability of Nigeria.
He said, “As we are approaching the 2027 general elections, there is the need for the people to offer massive prayers, especially those in the holy land for Nigeria to have peaceful elections and the stability in the country.”
Addressing the intending pilgrims at the Permanent Hajji Camp in Birnin Kebbi, Idris also urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria throughout their stay in the holy land.
He assured them of improved welfare arrangements by the state government which include better accommodation, free-feeding, free- animals sacrifices and other logistics.
The governor declared that throughout the period of the hajj, no pilgrim from the state would experience hardship.
A total of 428 pilgrims from four local government areas of the state are expected to leave Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Ambursa on Sunday to Medina.
