Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has released N556 million to Gombe State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) for payment of grants to the second batch of beneficiaries of the Gombe State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (GO-CARES) programme.
The general manager of CSDA, Malam Haruna Ahmed Imam disclosed this on Friday during the commissioning of a block of classrooms and offices built by the agency through the Palta Women Group at Walin Kwami Primary School in Palta, Kwami local government area of the state.
He revealed that so far, under the second phase of the programme, CSDA has constructed 17 blocks of classrooms, provided furniture and constructed 15 primary healthcare centres in several parts of the state.
He stated that 30 toilets, 23 boreholes and one earth rain water harvester were also provided by the agency.
He added that the agency has also provided nutritional complementary foods to 4,000 beneficiaries and appreciated the state governor for the prompt release of funds and commitment towards the GO-CARES programme.
The general manager congratulated the Palta community for benefiting from the project and advised them to take ownership of the project through proper maintenance.
The district head of Kwami, Musa Abdu thanked Governor Yahaya for providing dividends of democracy to the people especially through the GO-CARES project which he said is touching the lives of the poor and vulnerable.
