Gov Lawal Bags Pan-African Leadership Award In Ghana

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has been honoured with the ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award for his administration’s achievements in public sector leadership, economic reforms and development.

The award was presented to the governor yesterday at the British Council in Accra, Ghana, during the 7th ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award ceremony.
The event featured a lecture themed,

“Leadership, Peace, and Regional Integration: Advancing Africa’s Development in a Changing Global Order.”

The Board of Trustees and Governing Council of the award said Lawal’s recognition was based on the progress recorded by his administration in public sector leadership and economic reforms in Zamfara State.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ZIK Pan-African Award, His Royal Highness, Professor Echefuna R.G. Onyeabadi, said the award was established to recognise individuals who had made meaningful contributions to the service of their people.

Receiving the honour, Governor Lawal dedicated the award to the people of Zamfara State. He expressed appreciation to the organisers and pledged to intensify efforts to rescue and rebuild the state.

“This award is dedicated to all the people of Zamfara State. My administration has been working tirelessly to ensure the state can compete with any other in Nigeria,” Lawal said.

The governor listed major accomplishments recorded by his administration in the last three years to include urban renewal projects and the construction of a modern airport.

He said the airport project was significant because Zamfara had been without such infrastructure for more than three decades since the creation of the state.

Lawal also cited progress in security, civil service reform, education and healthcare as part of his administration’s achievements.

“I appreciate the organisers of this annual lecture and award. It means a lot to me and will motivate me to do even more for my people. Zamfara is on the rise,” he said.

The ceremony also honoured Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for his contributions to public service and sustainable development.

The ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award is presented to individuals recognised for leadership and contributions to peace, development and public service across Africa.
