Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has mourned the nine residents of Kirfi local government area who died in a recent trailer accident and flood, describing the tragedy as heartbreaking and avoidable.
During a condolence visit to the affected community, Governor Mohammed announced a N50 million donation to support victims and their families.

He disclosed that each family who lost a loved one would receive N2 million, while injured victims still receiving treatment would get N1 million each. Those already discharged will receive N500,000.

“This is not a political gimmick. It’s a genuine gesture of compassion to ease the burden of those affected,” the governor said, urging the local government chairman, Abdulƙadir Ɗewu, to ensure that the funds are disbursed promptly and fairly.

He warned traditional leaders and community members against practices that could endanger lives, especially during the rainy season.

Governor Mohammed also inspected key projects in the area, including road construction and erosion control efforts.
