Plateau State governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang joined numerous well-wishers and associates across the nation in celebrating former Senate President, Senator David Mark as he turned 77th.
Governor Mutfwang in a congratulatory message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, described Senator Mark as an exceptional statesman whose visionary leadership, patriotism, and unwavering dedication profoundly shaped the Nigerian Senate and the nation at large.
He lauded the former Senate President’s relentless pursuit of impactful reforms that contributed significantly to Nigeria’s democratic stability and economic progress.
Mutfwang fondly recalled Senator Mark’s historic invocation of the ‘Doctrine of Necessity’ during a turbulent political period in the country, a decisive move that helped stabilise Nigeria’s leadership and ensured a smooth transition of power, thus preserving national unity and constitutional order.
He noted that Senator Mark, who began his illustrious career as a soldier, rose through the ranks to become a Brigadier-General and Director of Signals in the Nigerian Army, before transitioning into politics where he served meritoriously as Senate President and the third highest-ranking public officer in the country.
Mutfwang praised God for Senator Mark’s life of wisdom, integrity, and statesmanship, emphasising that very few Nigerians have recorded such resounding success in both military and political spheres.
He further commended Senator Mark’s enduring legacy of fostering peace, unity, and social cohesion, describing him as a bridge-builder, a mentor, and a national icon.
On behalf of his family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang extended warm felicitations and prayers for renewed strength, sound health, and divine guidance for Senator Mark as he continues to serve as a source of inspiration and hope for future generations.
