The governor in a goodwill message issued  in Jos by the director of press and public affairs Gyang Bere to mark the World Press Freedom Day 2024,  encouraged journalists  to maintain the highest standards of their profession amidst increasing challenges encountered in revealing corruption, criminal activities and other societal issues.

He called for a deeper commitment to investigative journalism, which is crucial for uncovering developmental hurdles and promoting narratives that cast Nigeria and Africa in positive light.

Governor Mutfwang called on the media to actively participate in shaping public discourse around pressing concerns such as security, climate change, economic instability and other critical issues that impact on welfare of citizens. He enjoined the media to propose viable solutions for these challenges in order to  contribute their quota to the good of society.

He also urged media industry stakeholders to devise a robust strategy for the prevention and protection of journalists against crimes, safeguarding freedom of expression and addressing disinformation and misinformation with factual reporting.
