Gov Nwifuru Presents N396.58bn 2025 Budget To Ebonyi Assembly

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has presented a budget estimate of N396.589.009.620.00 for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The appropriation bill, tagged “Budget of Economic and Social Development, according to the Governor, is aimed at addressing the shortfalls in the various sectors in the state.

Such sectors include health, development, housing, infrastructure, agriculture, education, water supply, human capital, commerce, industry and business development, among others.

Governor Nwifuru said that the budget would guarantee industrialisation, economic growth and improved standard of living for the people of the state.

He added that the appropriation bill is targeted at driving tremendous improvement for the health and education sectors compared to the 2024 budget.

He noted that recurrent expenditure will gulp N112.073, 861,620.00 from the total budget with N36.656 billion earmarked for personnel cost, the overhead cost is stipulated to gulp N75.417 billion while capital expenditure has a total budget of N284.515billion.

Nwifuru who laid emphasis on the economic and social sector in the budget, noted that while the economic sector is expected to gulp the sum of N152, 688,755 billion, N115, 010, 713 billion is appropriated for the social sector.

He noted that under the social sector, the Ministry of Education has a total budget of N70.143 billion while the Health Ministry has a total budget of N39.012billion

He maintained that the budget proposal will not be achieved without the 2025 revenue projections, as such, adding that the state projects its Internal Revenue (IGR) Tax Revenue at N14.392,444.278 billion while Non Tax Revenue is targeted at N14.106.960.342 billion amounting to N28.499.409.620.

Governor Nwifuru said that the State is projecting a total sum of N175billion Revenue generation from the Capital Development Fund to assist the state to accomplish its projects in 2025.

He stressed that his administration has embarked on procurement of multi-billion naira medical equipment and consumables for general hospitals across the state, including but not limited to MRI machines and CT Scanners.
