The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state has dismissed rumours that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as mischievous and unfounded.

In a statement issued by the party’s Chairman in the state, Chief Solomon Arenyenka, the PDP described the reports as the work of unemployed political hirelings and their unscrupulous sponsors, who are deemed failed agents of destabilisation and betrayal.

The statement clarified: “We assert unequivocally that the faceless group of individuals spreading these rumours and presenting themselves as concerned leaders of the PDP are impostors and not members of our esteemed party.”

“We strongly condemn, in the strongest terms, the vile and malicious propaganda of these depraved perpetrators, particularly the key peddler—a notorious serial blackmailer and dishonest individual who will be remembered infamously for concocting lies as a means of survival.”

“The state leadership of the PDP urged the public to disregard these dubious speculations and reassured everyone that nothing could distract the Governor from his commitment to delivering good governance through his laudable M.O.R.E. agenda, as evidenced by substantial investments in social infrastructure and human capital development across the state”, it added.

Corroborating, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, said there is no iota of truth that the Governor is defecting to APC.

“It’s a lie being pushed by opposition elements”, Ahon stated.
