Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo yesterday unveiled over 120 new security vehicles and 44 motorcycles to enhance the efficiency of community policing in all 21 local government areas in the state.
The distribution of the vehicles to all 21 local government areas of the state according to the government is aimed at boosting the community policing initiative of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo through the state vigilante service.
It is also part of measures to lay the foundation for a new template for community policing as part of the security architecture in Kogi State
In his address, the governor said the measure was taken to curb crime in the state.
He added that this would enable the vigilantes move around their various domains.
The governor assured that security is very important in any society and that his administration is responsible for effective policing in the state.
He urged the vigilantes to operate within the law and not be involved in crime, assuring them that the state government was already working on their welfare.
