In a heartfelt address to the citizens of Cross River State, Gov.  Bassey Otu has appealed to youths in the state to re-think by not participating in the planned protests scheduled for August 1, 2024.

Otu made the appeal in a state broadcast yesterday in Càlabar, pleading with the state’s youth not to take part in the protest. His administration is committed to implementing projects and programmes that will make life comfortable for the people.

The governor, who tried to outline numerous achievements of his administration within less than a year, stressed that his administration is fully committed to mitigating economic challenges and improving people’s lives.

Otu acknowledged the economic challenges faced by the people of the state and said that his administration has set up a mechanism to resolve the economic issues.

He assured the citizens that his administration is committed to addressing these challenges head-on, notwithstanding the limitations.

“Unfortunately, this administration came in when the recession was rising sporadically to its peak, demanding extreme measures to counter its fangs,” Otu maintained.

Highlighting specific achievements, the Governor mentioned the extensive renewal of road, health, and educational infrastructures to boost the well-being of Cross Riverians.
