Katsina State governor, Umaru Radda, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of six security operatives killed during an ambush by armed bandits in Faskari local government area of the state.

The incident occurred on Friday, October 4, 2024, around 1600 hours along the Yankara-Faskari Road in the state.

The ambush targeted a joint patrol team consisting of members of the Community Watch Corps (CWC) and Vigilante Corps who were providing security for farmers harvesting crops near Ungwar Kafa.

In a fierce gunfight that lasted over an hour, four CWC members and two Vigilante Corps members lost their lives, while one other operative was injured.

He commended the swift response of security forces, including the police and military personnel, who arrived at the scene and successfully repelled the attackers, forcing the bandits to flee into a nearby forest.

“Our security operatives displayed exceptional courage and coordination, and their prompt action undoubtedly saved many lives and protected our hardworking farmers,” it remarked.
Governor Radda assured residents that the area remained under close surveillance with ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of the State, calling on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace and order.
