In a decisive move to tackle unemployment, Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has unveiled a bold plan to equip the state’s youth with marketable skills, transforming them into job creators and future employers of labour.

The Governor’s initiative follows the approval of N123 million for training students at the Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV), a centre dedicated to practical skills development.

This investment is part of his administration’s broader strategy to address unemployment by empowering young people with the tools they need to build sustainable careers.

“By equipping our young people with marketable skills, we are not merely taking them off the streets but transforming them into productive entrepreneurs and future employers of labour,” Governor Radda stated.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to removing barriers to training and ensuring no young person is left behind in the quest for economic empowerment.

The State Coordinator of Katsina Youth Craft Village, Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Kofar Soro, outlined the diverse range of skills offered at the centre, such as shoemaking and leatherworks, computer maintenance and networking, film and photography, auto electrical, auto mechanical, catering, and waste-to-wealth initiatives.

Training durations range from three months to one year, depending on the complexity of the skill.

In a bid to decentralize access to training, Engr. Abdullahi revealed that similar centres have been established in Daura and Malumfashi local government areas, expanding opportunities for youth across the state.

The funding and opportunities provided at KYCV align with Governor Radda’s Building Your Future agenda, aimed at fostering economic growth and creating sustainable pathways out of poverty for the youth.

With this initiative, Governor Radda has taken a significant step toward combating unemployment in Katsina State, offering a promising future where young people are empowered to drive economic development and become pillars of their communities.
